GFIS Manager Dana Bublitz will be doing a live webinar on Wednesday, April 9th from 2-3pm, entitled: “Summer Strategies: Organizing Your Funding Search Before Application Deadlines.”
Many funding deadlines occur between September and December, but that doesn’t mean that you can begin planning and preparing for fall funding deadlines now! In this webinar, Dana provides tips and tricks for strategizing your funding search to make the fall application process more manageable.

Spring Quarter Writing Consultations for Graduate Students
The Odegaard Writing and Research Center (OWRC) offers drop-in consultations in the Research Commons for graduate students only. Consultations will begin on April 2 and run through June 11, 2014.

Workshop: “Choosing the Right Citation Tool for You”: April 10
The Research Commons citation management team is offering a spring workshop to help you learn about about four citation management systems: Refworks, EndNote Basic, Mendeley, and Zotero, that allow you to import, store and share your research citations and automatically format your references into whatever style you need (APA, MLA, Chicago and more).

Praxis: Doing Scholarship Digitally: April 15
On Tuesday, Apr. 15, 2014, 12:30 – 1:15 pm., in the Research Commons Presentation Place, UW-IT’s Tyler Fox will present “Enabling Amateurism and Beyond.”
This Praxis talk will address the challenges of digital scholarship and what UW-IT Learning Technologies has learned thus far through focus groups, individual interviews and departmental conversations to identify needs in this emergent sphere. Tyler will also discuss new initiatives sponsored by Learning Technologies and their partners to address those needs and challenges.
The Praxis series is hosted by the Research Commons, and is sponsored by the Simpson Center for the Humanities and University of Washington Libraries.
